Walking in Faith: A Biblical and Kingdom Perspective
1. Introduction
Walking in faith is more than just believing in God; it is a lifestyle of trust, obedience, and surrender to His divine plan. The Bible defines faith as "the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" (Hebrews 11:1). In the Kingdom of God, faith is the foundation upon which everything else is built. Without faith, we cannot please God, enter His promises, or fully experience His power.
But walking in faith is not always easy. Life presents uncertainties, trials, and moments when we feel like stepping into the unknown. Yet, faith calls us to trust in God even when we cannot see the outcome. It requires us to believe in His goodness, His promises, and His ability to work all things together for our good (Romans 8:28).
2. What is Faith?
Faith is not just wishful thinking or positive affirmations—it is absolute confidence in God's character and Word. Hebrews 11:1 gives us the most direct definition:
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
Faith means believing in God's promises even when they have not yet materialized. It is the assurance that what God has spoken will come to pass, even if our natural circumstances contradict it.
Faith is Trust in God's Promises
Abraham believed God's promise of a son even when it seemed impossible (Genesis 15:6).
The Israelites trusted God to bring them into the Promised Land despite the giants they faced (Numbers 13-14).
Jesus frequently told His followers, "Only believe," emphasizing faith as a requirement for receiving from God (Mark 5:36).
Faith vs. Doubt: A Spiritual Battle
Walking in faith requires overcoming doubt. Doubt is the enemy of faith, constantly questioning God's ability, timing, and goodness. James 1:6 warns us that a double-minded man, unstable in his ways, will receive nothing from the Lord.
To walk in faith, we must:
Feed on the Word of God (Romans 10:17) – Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word.
Refuse to be moved by circumstances – Faith sees beyond the present moment.
Speak faith-filled words – Life and death are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21).
3. The Role of Faith in the Kingdom of God
Jesus taught extensively about faith and its role in the Kingdom of God. In Mark 11:22-24, He told His disciples that they could command mountains to move if they had faith.
Faith as the Foundation of Kingdom Living
In the Kingdom of God:
Faith activates God's promises – Every promise of God is received by faith (2 Corinthians 1:20).
Faith is required to access Kingdom blessings – Healing, provision, deliverance, and victory come through faith.
Faith pleases God – "Without faith, it is impossible to please Him" (Hebrews 11:6).
The Power of Faith in Manifesting God's Will
When Jesus taught His disciples to pray, He said, "Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven" (Matthew 6:10). Faith is the force that brings God's Kingdom reality into our earthly experiences.
Miracles, supernatural provisions, and divine breakthroughs all require faith. Every great move of God throughout history has been marked by men and women who chose to believe in the impossible.
